Rocket Piano - Learn Piano

easily play the pianoWhat a question to answer: Is piano easy to learn? This depends on the attitude of the person who wants to learn and how much ambition they have to sit down and learn the basics of playing the piano. I had a real desire to learn to play and started lessons when I was 8 years old. First off, we didn’t have a piano and I used to go to the local school, which was opposite our home, and practice on the piano for hours there until eventually my parents bought the piano I played for years to come.

My first piano teacher went through the basics and I could play some music very well. He unfortunately died and I was found another tutor who got me into exams and grades to progress. Because I had the dedication and the attitude to do well I found I could answer the question “is piano easy to learn” with a definite – YES!

Is Piano Easy To Learn? – If You Get The Basics Right First It Is!

When you get into learning the notes and some simple chords, you can get the basics and start to practice playing a tune or two. Learning the notes is pretty easy and you can see how the notes are arranged in this image:

Learning to position your hands isn’t difficult, but getting the technique right is vital to your progress and making the piano much easier to play.

When learning new tunes, make sure you practice each hand separately and then together. This sequence will help you play with more “togetherness” and you will improve more quickly too! Also, be prepared to do the “boring” stuff such as scales and finger exercises because this will make the more difficult pieces easier too.

Be aware that your fingers and hands will hurt when you start out. It’s a new exercise and stiffness is common until you get more used to it and your hands become more supple.

Many people want to become a master almost immediately and don’t believe in working through the basics first. Make sure you learn the basic chords and scales etc. (The chords being A, B, C, D, E, F and G) so that you can move forward a lot easier and you will start to develop into a real musician! Getting past the first step seems to be the biggest challenge to anyone who wants to learn to play the piano.

To master the piano is no simple task on its own, but when you apply yourself you will wonder why you had to ask is piano easy to learn because you will know that it can be when you have the correct attitude and dedication to develop your skills as a pianist.
